As recently reported, No fewer than 15 persons may have died in Kano overnight Monday in a shootout between security agents and suspected Boko Haram members in Hotoro district of Kano.
Last Friday, parts of the state capital were locked down as Boko Haram gunmen on motorcycles unleashed a massacre, which claimed over 150 lives and left some security buildings and police stations in ruins.
Residents told newsmen that it appeared that Boko Haram members tried to attack a police station and a mobile police barracks but were repelled.
However, some reports said Boko Haram members massed in and around a house in Hotoro, where they engaged security agents in a gun battle.
At the end of the battle, security agents took the bodies of the owner of the house and his pregnant wife away while other bodies are suspected to have been carried by the Boko Haram gunmen.
The state police command was not available for comments.
